Shannon Staub Library Bolsters Large Print Book Collection Thanks to NP2
The NP2 (North Port Non-Profits United) program approved a $2,000 funding application for The Friends of Shannon Staub Public Library (FOSSPL) which allowed the purchase of 65 large print books by contemporary authors. By adding titles from popular novelists such as Daniel Silva, Janet Evanovich, Harlan Coben, Danielle Steel, and more, the library’s selection now offers many of the latest books on the best-sellers’ lists.
FOSSPL’s mission is to ensure an exciting, worthwhile, and sustainable library that engages the community. Bridging the accessibility gaps of the elderly population and other patrons who prefer the large print format is a goal that aligns with that mission. Many older community members are not comfortable with technology and rely on the local library for reading material. Being able to check out a large print book by a favorite best-selling author allows patrons to enhance their fundamental enjoyment of reading.
Thank you to the city of North Port Social Services staff and the NP2 program for supporting the Shannon Staub Library! Come on by, visit the display of new large print books, and start checking them out today!
